Portrait Photography

Vogue- Fashion Photography

I like how she's wearing no make-up because it really draws your attention to her dramatic hair. I also like her pose and how her clothes are a simple color.
Joanna Kustra- Fashion Photography

I like this photo because the bright colors create this girly and delicate look.

Twig Capra- Fine Art Photography

I like this image because of the warm colors around her eyes that make the rest of her body seem cold. The colors make her eyes stand out.
Brooke Shaden- Fine art Photography

I like the intelligent color of the red dress and how it really stands out compared to the washed out, dull background. I also like how the dress is shaped at the bottom. I think its an effective pose.

Fine art photography is more dramatic and expresses emotion. Fashion photography focuses on beauty and captures more of a lifestyle theme.

Project 7

Daguerreotype- an obsolete photographic process, invented in 1839, in which a picture  made on a silver surface sensitized with iodine was developed by exposure  to mercury vapor.

Cyanotype- a process of photographic printing, used chiefly in copying architectural and  mechanical drawings, that produces a blue line on a white background.

Project 6

Blossoming

For this project, I had chosen four different pictures of  flowers and a picture of my sister. In Photoshop, I used a texture of a concrete wall for a simple background and then cut out the flowers to put around my sister. I didn't really know what I was making while creating this image but I like the way it turned out. I made some flowers transparent and it covered her face. I like the colors and exposure and the way the flowers are blending with her skin.

Surrealism and Photomontage

Surrealism is creating a world or image which goes beyond the physical world. It shows something which would be impossible in real life or tampers with the line defining what is real and what is imaginary.

Here are a couple famous artists that influenced the Surrealist movement.

Dali Atomicus by Philippe Halsman

Wig Stall by Nigel Henderson

Here are photos I think show a surrealist bent in their imagery

Project 4

This Kaleidoscope I chose is originally from a footprint.
This is a diptych of a dancer that was shot at Bodyvox.  I really like this photo because it was edited in such a way that you really are drawn to the dancer.
This is a triptych. I really like this photo because of the vast colors of pink and green.
